Fall Leaf Ornament
Create this very pretty and fun ornament at home!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- blank glass ornament
- small fall leaves in assorted colors (I picked up a package of 100 at Ben Franklin for $1)
- matching glitter in red, gold and deep orange
- hot glue and glue gun
- clear glue (like Aleene’s)
- clear varnish (like DecoArt’s Dura Clear Varnish)

- Heat up the glue gun and spread out the leaves on your work surface.
- Apply a dab of hot glue to the back of one of the leaves and attach to the top of the ornament. Start at the bottom of the ornament and work you way up.
- Keep adding leaves, alternating in colors, until the ornament is covered.
- Take the clear glue and brush each of the leaves with a thin coat. Brush up as far as the leaf sticks out, there’s no need to apply glue to the entire leaf, unless it’s the topmost later.
- Start with one color of glitter and sprinkle lightly on the leaf of the corresponding color. I recommend starting with a darker color first, like red and adding the gold to the yellow leaves last.
- Hang the ornament up to let the glue dry and glitter set.
- Once dry, brush a thin coat of the clear varnish of each leaf. This will seal the glitter in and keep it from falling off everywhere.
- That’s it! Now you have a pretty fall ornament for your Christmas tree or just around your home!
